Ana de Armas

With the Oscars just around the corner, and right in the middle of Women’s History Month, our latest #spotlight is on the mega talented Ana de Armas. This young Cuban sensation has taken Hollywood by storm. Her recent role as Marilyn Monroe in Blonde snagged her a Best Actress Nomination. With her latest project Ghosted being released in April, we will continue to be graced with her talent + beauty on our screens for some time!

Born and raised in Cuba, de Armas discovered her love for theater and ballet at a young age. She entered Cuba’s National Art School (ENA) and shortly after, booked her first role in Una Rosa de Francia. That led to other roles, and eventually a move to Spain, landing a role in what would be a hugely successful series El Internado. With this newly minted celebrity status, de Armas was ready to pursue a career in the US and made the move to Los Angeles in 2014-not knowing a word of English. Committed to learning the language she enrolled in classes but also learned on the job.

Since taking on Hollywood there is no shortage to the breadth of roles Ana de Armas can shine in. From a Bond Girl, to nurse Marta in Knives Out and a most challenging assignment to completely transform into Marilyn Monroe. In this latest darker role, de Armas had to put herself in that mental and emotional state to entirely encompass Monroe while shooting. The movie itself has experienced a range of reactions both positive and negative. De Armas has handled that with grace and continues to shine. This young woman is a force and we are HERE for it! There’s no stopping her and we can’t wait to see what’s up next.
